We're gonna try with these settings for now.  If any of the difficulty levels doesn't feel appropriately difficult, let me know and we can figure out how best to tweak it.

- Weapons are randomized.  They will have random effects, stat changes, palettes, icons, and names.  The names are taken from various other video game, TV, and movie sources.
- Zhade's shorter chest-opening animation hack
- Some rebalancing of enemy stats
- Mana Magic is removed for now
- The timer doesn't start until you finish flipping through the starting dialogue.


Next up: Probably cave tileset for v0.50, in conjunction with any fixes for v0.4x


  1. This is a pretty interesting hack, but I think it could be improved significantly by incorporating this camera hack, since Secret of Mana's camera deadzone is a pretty big detriment.

    1. Yeah that might be a nice thing to have. I wonder what sort of enemy spawning/AI side effects that may have. I'll have to give it a go one of these days.

  2. Hi Mop, longtime lurker. I was wondering why you are using an exe file instead of an ips patch? I know your patches must be legit, but I always think danger when seeing an exe file.

    1. SoM-ACs are randomly generated based on a seed, with user-chosen options. They are not a fixed hack, as IPS files are intended for.

  4. I think it would be awesome if you used a city tile set then you could fight enemies in the street! I always thought that would be fun.

    P.S. Thank you for your hard work Secret of Mana is my favorite game of all time and i love rouge likes so this is the beast of both worlds.
